Code of Conduct
Last updated: 29 June 2026
Nookyard is a private, members-only space hosted inside Mélange Café. It works because the people in the room look out for one another. This code sets the standard we hold each other to. It applies to everyone, everywhere the club exists: the venue, club events, our Discord, and any other Nookyard channel. By being a member you agree to follow it.
1. Respect comes first
Treat other members, guests, staff, and the host café with respect. We welcome people of every background, identity, profession and level of experience. Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, slurs, and unwelcome sexual attention are never acceptable. “No” is a complete sentence, both socially and professionally; respect it the first time.
2. It’s a workplace, not a sales floor
Many members come here to work and to meet good people, not to be pitched. Networking is welcome; aggressive selling, spamming, multi-level-marketing recruitment, and unsolicited mass messaging are not. Ask before adding someone to a list, sharing their contact, or introducing them. A warm introduction beats a cold pitch every time.
3. Share the space
Keep the room calm and usable for everyone. Take calls and video meetings in the areas meant for them and keep your voice down elsewhere. Don’t spread across more space than you need, don’t leave belongings to “reserve” seats you aren’t using, and clean up after yourself, including your table, your cups, and any mess from food. Headphones for audio. Phones on silent or low.
4. Privacy & discretion
Treat what you see and hear here as private. Don’t photograph or film other members without their clear consent, and never share someone’s presence, conversations, work, or contact details outside the club without permission. What’s said at the table stays at the table. This discretion is a core part of why the club exists.
5. The host café & staff
We’re guests of Mélange Café. Follow the venue’s rules, be kind to its staff, and remember that paying customers share the space. Coffee and other perks are a membership benefit, not a licence to treat the team as your own. Staff instructions about the space take priority.
6. Guests
If guest access is offered, you’re responsible for anyone you bring. Your guest must follow this code and the Terms; if they don’t, that’s on you. Don’t use guest access to get around membership.
7. Safety & security
Your account and any access credentials are personal, don’t share them or let others in on your membership. Look after your own belongings; the club isn’t responsible for lost or stolen items. No illegal activity, no illegal substances, no weapons, and nothing that puts other people or the venue at risk. If you feel unsafe, tell staff or contact us immediately.
8. Online spaces
Our Discord and any other online channels are part of the club, the same standards apply. Keep it constructive, don’t spam or self-promote against channel rules, and don’t leak members-only content or other members’ information.
9. Reporting & enforcement
If something feels wrong, tell us. Speak to staff at the venue or email hello@nookyard.club. We take reports seriously and handle them discreetly. Depending on the situation we may give a warning, ask someone to leave, suspend access, or remove membership, in line with the Terms. Retaliating against someone for reporting in good faith is itself a breach of this code.
This isn’t a list of loopholes to argue around, it’s the spirit we want in the room. Use good judgement, be the kind of member you’d want next to you, and we’ll all have a better place to work.
